Children’s transitional fashion: a perfect combination for spring and autumn

What is the most fun in spring or autumn? Puddles, mud, and rain showers! When we adults duck our heads, the little ones really get going. We'll show you how to get your children ready for autumn and spring with the right between-seasons jacket and suitable children's fashion.

Layer by layer, more fun being outdoors

The transitional fashion for children has one main job: to accompany the little ones in all weather conditions without restricting their urge to move. If you cannot predict the weather or temperatures in the morning, only skilful shift work will help: Start with a shirt, add a sweater, and complete the look with a cardigan or between-seasons jacket. As temperatures rise, you can easily remove the layers. The layers closest to the body ideally consist of natural fibres such as wool, silk or cotton, while the water-repellent fabrics for the outermost layer protect against the unexpected showers. The between-seasons jacket should have reflectors to improve visibility. The anti-wind details such as cuffs with Velcro closures and high collars are also a smart choice.

Who can resist a big, inviting puddle?!That is why the rubber boots are the perfect shoes for the transitional seasons. They are colourful, easy to put on and take off, and surprisingly flexible. The modern children's models have many smart details – for example, the writeable name tags for the nursery schools, colourful lights for more visibility in bad weather, or soft inner linings in different warmth levels. Most important, however, is the profiled sole, which prevents the unwanted slipping on the wet leaves or rain-soaked paths.

Accessories for protection against the wind and weather

Whether it’s winter or summer that is saying goodbye: The transition period is a cold and flu season. To ensure your little ones start the next season healthy, they should not leave the house without the warm socks, a suitable hat and a neck protector. Depending on the weather, a light scarf and a cap are sufficient, but on some mornings you might need a full wool outfit including gloves. It is best to opt for accessories that are not so easy to lose – for example, the neck gaiters and hats with ties. Because things can get lost during rough housing and playing, it is always worth having a few extra items in the wardrobe.
