Visible in the dark season – this is how your child stays protected
The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting more unpleasant, and in the dark season it is especially important that children are clearly visible for the traffic and therefore safe on the road. With the right equipment, you can ensure not only that your child stays warm and dry, but, above all, is clearly visible.

Why visibility is so crucial
On the way to school, while playing outside or on the bicycle, your child is constantly involved in road traffic. Especially in the early morning and late afternoon hours, children are difficult for the drivers to see because of the low sun and long shadows, even though it is already or still light. Bright colors and reflective elements can make the crucial difference here. A reflective jacket or accessories with reflectors ensure that your child is quickly noticed even in poor visibility.

Tips and tricks for more security
- Use reflectors cleverly: Even small reflective strips on backpacks, shoes or hats increase visibility enormously. Make sure they are attached both at the front and back.
- Use lighting: Flashing lights or luminous pendants attached to the school bag make children even more visible. LED shoes are also a fun and safe companion.
- Prefer the light-colored clothing: Dark colors absorb the light. Jackets or rainwear in bold colors immediately catch the eye and provide a good base that you can combine with reflectors.

How reflectors and flashing shoes work
Reflectors are small safety aids made of special, light-reflecting foil or fabric. They reflect light that hits them – for example from car headlights – directly back, so that the wearer is visible from a greater distance. Unlike luminous elements, they do not require a battery, but only use the existing light.
Flashing shoes, alternatively, have small LEDs built into the sole that are activated by movement or pressure. With each step, the lights flash or remain lit. This makes children visible with every step. At the same time, walking is even more fun. Both technologies complement each other perfectly: Reflectors are reliable in light from outside, while flashing shoes also attract attention and increase safety on the road.

Rain, wind and cold – the visible weather protection
In addition to visibility, protection from cold and wetness also plays a major role. Children spend a lot of time outdoors, and even the most beautiful autumn walk is no fun when they're wet or freezing. Therefore, at this time of the year, rainwear and reliable warm clothing, preferably reflective, are essential.
- Hardshell jackets: Waterproof and breathable, provide reliable protection against wetness and wind. Ideal for rainy autumn or winter days.
- Softshell jackets: Lightweight, flexible and windproof. For dry weather and active exercise.
- Fleece inner jackets: They are warm and pleasantly soft under the hardshell or softshell jackets.
- Outdoor trousers: Robust materials such as Cordura or special synthetic fibers with reinforcements on the knees and seat can withstand all adventures.
- Rainwear for children: Waterproof jackets and trousers protect against wetness and are best equipped with reflectors so that children are more easily seen during the dark season.
- Functional underwear: Special, breathable underwear made of merino wool or functional fibers wicks moisture away from the body, keeps children warm, and ensures that they don't get cold, even when they are very active.
- Shoes and boots: Waterproof shoes or rubber boots with non-slip soles protect against wet and slippery surfaces. Make sure they fit comfortably, are breathable, and provide enough support so your child can walk safely.
Visible, safe and dry through autumn and winter
With the right equipment, you can make the journey to school or playing outside safer for your child. A reflective jacket, complemented by smart accessories such as flashing lights, and robust rainwear for children, provide a functional mix of safety and weather protection.
